We slowly got moving this morning trying to figure out something to do today. We had nothing planned and with the wind still howling it doesn't appear there will be any floating in the pool today. We toyed with the idea of going to the Palm Springs Air Museum today but decided to put it off til another day. We've still got another 2 weeks before we head east to Casa Grande so we won't be in any hurry to get over there.
By lunchtime we decided to go over to the Country Store and have the Hot Dogs we won at the Eastern States Party. They were quite good and not just regular hot dogs. They were bigger and thicker than just regular dogs, and quite tasty. We had the "combos" which consisted of a 12 oz. Soda and a small bag of chips. While we were there John Fraser stopped in for lunch also. He said that Kris wasn't feeling good today with a sore throat, and she told him to go to the store to have lunch. I also had quite a stimulating conversation about politics with John and Wes, the storekeeper. It seems that the 3 of us have the same political persuasion.
The pool was still cold today and the wind was still blowing at noon so there will be no pool for the Rocheleau's today. There was only 1 guy in the pool when we were there at lunchtime and it didn't look like there would be any more anytime soon. The cold and the wind have really played hell with our activities this year, and the broken leg didn't help much either.
I had to dump the holding tanks this afternoon and I got out there after lunch. As the tank was emptying it stopped and plugged. I had to have Sharon come out and help me get it unplugged. It's just a matter of pumping water into the tank backwards but it requires 2 people to do it. It only took one shot to free it, so that it dumped completely.
I had a couple of other jobs to do today but they'll wait for me and not get done until I do them. I don't want to do everything in one day and then not have anything to do tomorrow. Besides I have to pace myself. HaHa!
We decided to have Cream of Potato Soup for supper tonight. It was a package that we picked up at the Thrift Bakery the other day. Along with that we would have Toasted Cheese w/ Onion, on thick bread, Sandwiches. The whole thing was quite good.
We could watch TV on the dish tonight as the wind died down this afternoon about 4. So all night we actually had new shows on. We didn't last past 10 however, no matter what was on.

We were off this morning to Palm Springs for my Physical Therapy. Sharon was coming with me so that we could stop at the Spa Resort Casino for their Buffet Breakfast on the way home. Spa Resort is a sister Casino to the Agua Caliente. They had reduced their price to $5.99 last week and this week we decided to try it out.
It took me an hour with Brenda at Therapy and then we headed off to the casino. There was a little different selection than at the Agua Caliente but it was all very good anyway. They had waffles that were pre-made and in the shape of Diamonds, Hearts, Spades and Clubs. They were about 1/4 the size of a regular Belgian Waffle. They also had Breakfast Burritos and Huevo Rancheros and the remainder of the entree's that we enjoyed at the Agua Caliente. The Breakfasts were well worth the $5.99 that we paid for them.
The day turned out to be very nice. I had Sharon drop me off at the pool so I could check on the temp of the water before this afternoon. It was actually 85 degrees but I'm sure it will warm up some before we get over there at 2. The day was so nice and toasty that by the time we went in the pool it seemed warmer. The whole gang was there and quite a few transients. You could tell they were transients by the way they were checking out the pool area. They may have been part of the 2 groups that were due in over the next few days.
After the pool we came home and watched our usual episodes of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and snacked on Peanuts and Coke. Sharon decided we were going to do Burgers tonight for supper. She always divides mine in two and then I can have a double. The amount of meat isn't important but it just seems to taste better when you add the second slice of cheese to the burger.
We had some new shows on the tube tonight along with a couple of repeats. We actually stayed up til 11 watching a repeat of a 2 hour Dirty Jobs. Sharon stayed up doing a monster Soduku puzzle.

After getting myself functioning this morning I had a couple jobs that I needed to take care of. I had to replace a couple of screw in the door that had vibrated loose and repair the elevation handle on the bathroom fan that had fallen apart. It took me about an hour to get both of them taken care of. Neither was a complicated job just a pain in the butt.
Sharon read yesterday's newspaper online while I slaved away unmercifully. A couple of people who we knew were reported to have died recently. I didn't know them except in passing but Sharon recognized their names.
By the time noon rolled around we got ourselves ready and left for Taco Wednesday at the VFW. The crowd is starting to thin out now as the Canadians are leaving to go back home. We found a seat almost immediately and sat down and ordered our chips and salsa. The Taco Bowls (salads) and Tacos were very full again today. There was almost enough salad to fill another bowl. We stayed for our usual 2 pitchers but we didn't have anyone to help us today.
When we left, Kay Ellis asked us for a ride home and we dropped her off at Almar Acres before we turned for home. We managed to get back by 3:30 which is a little late for us but we went to the pool. We figured it was a little late for the Browns and Parents but they came in about 30 minutes later. We stayed for another hour and then came back home.
Neither of us had anything substantial for supper tonight. I don't know what the problem was but we just weren't hungry. We each snacked on a couple of things that aren't even worth mentioning.
The programming tonight on TV was absolutely horrendous. All the goofy reality shows were on tonight and we never could get interested in them. We surfed all night looking for something to watch and even the off-channel programming was lousy. This was one of the first times all year that I couldn't find something to watch on Discovery, History,TBS, TNT or even TruTV which used to be Court TV. This was bound to happen eventually, and tonight everything came to a head. Oh Well.

I was up and off this morning by myself to get to Physical Therapy at Desert Regional Hospital. I had a 9 o'clock appointment and because I was held up by traffic again I just made it before 9. By my watch I was late, but their clocks run 5 minutes slow so I was right on time. I took my usual beating during the hour I was there, but in all fairness they know that my next three appointments, next week, will more than likely be my last for this therapy. We'll be in Casa Grande for about 2 ½ weeks and really not enough time to get into another therapy series before we leave there. But I think I should be well on my way to recovery by the end of next week.
I found a new way to get back home this morning that should help avoid the traffic on the way over there. We'll see on Monday. By the time I got back at 10:30 Sharon was already sunning herself outside on a lawn chair. I gave her the therapy report when she came inside with me.
Sharon had picked up a couple of the "campground" newspapers that we sat and read over the next hour or so. The papers aren't really published by the campground but they're made available to us for free in the newspaper racks near the Lower Clubhouse.
Sharon heated up a can of soup for lunch and because I'm not usually a "soup person", I made myself a Bologna Sandwich to go with it. It would be enough to hold me until pool time and my "peanut and coke snack" afterwards. There was a nice crowd at the pool today. All the usual culprits were there, and we stayed for at least a couple of hours before we came back home.
We got back in time for our usual editions of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Sharon was making Fried Chicken for supper tonight. She also choked a Salad down me along with Fried Potatoes. It was all very good.
We had a couple of new shows on TV tonight so we didn't have to surf around much at all. It was much better than last night trying to find something entertaining on the magic box. We actually stayed tuned in until 11 before we finally caved for the night. At least the weather has seemed to take a turn for the better in the last couple of days.
Friday, March 21, 2008 GOOD FRIDAY
It was a beautiful day today by the time we got functioning and outside. Sharon stopped over and got a couple of papers this morning and tried to read them outside. We're still having trouble with the little bugs that have plagued us this year. There doesn't seem to be any end to them. People have suggested that they've been stirred up by the construction of the new road out in front of the campground. But then nobody seems to have a definitive answer for all the bugs. This has become almost as bad as the Butterfly explosion we had a couple of years ago.
We left home today early to make a stop at Wal-Mart to pick up a few things that we needed before we went to lunch. We met Phil and Joyce at the Pak Inn. It's the Chinese place that we enjoy at least a couple of times every year. We've been there once before with Corky and Deb earlier this year. The food is great and I don't have to eat any stir fry if I don't want to. There's tons of food and it's all delicious. And as we've experienced in the past, we left there wanting nothing to eat for quite a while.
We got home a little late but we went to the pool anyway. I figured we'd be the only ones there but everybody showed up after we did. We stayed for a couple of hours and then rolled back into the hacienda about 5, too late for Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. No matter, we would find some entertainment on TV tonight if it kills us.
We must have found something cause we both stayed up until 11 tonight. Either that or we just didn't feel like going to bed tonight.

After showering and having a brief Breakfast this morning we drove off in the car and headed for Palm Desert, the location of the Holocaust Memorial. We got a pleasant surprise when we arrived at the location. The Memorial was located in a Community Park with water ponds, waterfalls, ball fields, picnic pavilions, basketball and tennis courts and even a couple of pieces of outdoor art. The park itself was a very beautiful "Green" area with immaculately manicured lawns and pathways. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience on a very nice sunny day.
We stayed around the memorial for about an hour and then headed toward home or rather Carl's Jr. and the Green Burrito. I wanted o see if they had the shrimp burrito they had a couple of years ago or if it was a special at the time. Apparently it was just a special because I didn't see it on the menu this time.
By the time we got back home it was definitely time to go to the pool. We changed our clothes and headed toward the warm water. And the water was definitely warm again today. It's was over 90 degrees again today and very nice to just sit and soak in it. We stayed for a couple of hours before we decided to retreat to home and the running Air Conditioner. We've had it on for the last couple of days since it gets too warm around supper time for our tastes. Besides it's too warm too cook and we're definitely not giving up on eating.
Tonight was a particularly horrendous night for television. Even surfing didn't solve the entertainment dilemma on this occasion. I spent most of the evening working on the new Newsletter, so the time passed pretty quickly even though the TV only played in the background. I was glad that I had something to replace the lousy tube fare. Surprisingly we both stayed up until 11 before we headed for the padded room. Apparently we weren't THAT bored.

I was up early this morning and writing my Journal when Sharon got up. I had already seen two of my Sunday morning political shows, an by the time she got ready and went to church I was watching the third. She would stop on the way home and pick up some groceries for our Easter Dinner.
She got home around lunchtime and I had the leftover Creamy Potato Soup and some Garlic Bread. She had a big salad w/ leftover fried chicken cut up in it. After we got done with lunch it was almost time to go to the pool. It was a little early but it would also give us extra time for Sharon to make supper when we get back.
We stayed at the pool until we had our fill of soaking in the water of the pool and hot tub, and then we came back home.
We would be having Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes and Garlic Crescent Rolls for Dinner tonight. Sharon also picked up a white cake with coconut frosting for dessert. She said she picked up the cake with the coconut frosting special for me cause she knew I liked coconut. I don't think so. But I appreciated it anyway.
After Dinner with the exception of watching 2 hours of Cops, we had no luck surfing for entertainment tonight. I think by the time we go to bed tonight we'll have been bored to tears, and ready to crash for the night.
