Today was the day I was going to get this crap with the Wi-Fi settled once and for all.  I went t the office early and inquired about the system before I started screaming and moaning.  They told me that they had found 4 defective parts in the "thing" and that it would be up and running today.  Yeah sure same old story since Wednesday of last week.  People who had been on Wi-Fi before were failing to log on.  After a couple of hours and a new Password in hand, I took my computer over to the office to have them show me how to do it.
They worked on my computer until they were blue in the face and couldn't get it hooked up unless they put in the setting manually cause it wouldn't acquire them automatically.  By mid-afternoon all I wanted to do was log on one time and download the files for our new phone and then they can stick the Wi-Fi up their incompetent ass.  And they got me on in the clubhouse with the disclaimer that it probably wouldn't work back at my site.  I downloaded my files and went home and sure as hell it didn't work there.  So tomorrow morning I will go back and get my money back.  I got done what I wanted to get done and that was that.  I hope the files work for me and I don't have to download them again.  But who knows.
When I finally got home there was a note on the table that my honey was over at the pool.  That was quite a surprise since I usually have to talk her into going for a dip.  I shave and took a quick shower and headed for the pool.  Phil and Joyce's car was gone and I just assumed they were gone to Caliente Springs to swim for the day.  Phil has been threatening to go over there since they were here in January.
Jim and Jackie were in the pool with Sharon when I got there.  We discussed not having had any cocktail hours since we've gotten here.  Jim and Jackie were going on the 4 wheeler trip to Joshua Tree National Park today but it was cancelled because most of the people going on the trip actually headed to Stateline Casino in Primm, Nevada.  So we decided that after the pool we would go to their house and have Margaritas and Brie cheese.  We also had a Green Olive Tapanade with crackers and Salami to go along with it.  It was a very nice cocktail hour indeed.
After we got home Sharon put the Chicken Wings in the over that she had intended to BBQ for tonight's Dinner.  With it now being dark outside we decided that cooking them inside in the oven would be better than trying them on the grill in the dark.  They turned out absolutely fabulous, and we had Garlic Bread and a Lettuce Salad to finish off the meal.  No vino tonight cause I was tee-totaling for a change.
We settled in for our regular TV tonight.  Prison Break and "24" were running back to back tonight.  Prison Break was a repeat of the last show I'd seen.  Apparently to get us back into the groove of the show.  Next week they'll show original shows for the rest of the season.  We only stayed up until 10 cause Sharon had e-mail checked and her paper read at the end of the 9 o'clock shows.  This had been a busy day and not much to show for it.  Tomorrow I'll be content again to just use my dial-up connection on the cell phone.  Nite, nite.

We got up to a very sunny day this morning and it was warming up every hour that it continued. It had been a couple of days since we were optimistic about the weather.  The snow on the surrounding mountains was considerably less than it was a couple of days ago.
I went to the office today to get my money back for the Wi-Fi and there was no argument about whether they would give it to me or not.  I was happier now about the Wi-Fi than I had been in 5 days, even though I wasn't receiving it.  I had downloaded the files I wanted downloaded yesterday and I had no further use for the Wi-Fi.
Sharon spent most of the morning outside in the sun while I spent it going back and forth to the office to check on the arrival of the Motorola Phone Tools for our new phone.  We finally got a letter from my mother which indicated to me that the postman had been there and no package.  I'll keep checking even though we'll be over at Desert Pools for the week.  It's only a couple of blocks down the road and we'll be here every day in the pool anyway...........hopefully.
At lunch time today the whole gang (Bachs, Palestinis, Schultzes and us) made a pilgrimmage to Pizza Hut for their buffet lunch.  A little pizza and a little beer hit the spot nicely and the pizza was very good.
Sharon and I went to K-Mart when we were finished to check on some shorts for me and Diet Coke.  Both were the right price and we picked up two pairs of shorts and 5 cokes.  By the time we got back home everybody was in the pool so we got ready and headed over.  Sharon and I, as usual, were the last to arrive and the first to leave.  We can't bring ourselves to go to the pool after sitting in the hot tub.  The pool water is then too cold.
By the time we got back home it was time for the early versions of a couple of our shows.  We called Phil and Joyce and invited them over for Dominoes tonight but had to leave a message on their phone.  We watched NCIS and The Unit before Phil and Joyce came over at 7 and we played a couple of games of Chickenfoot.  Joyce was "Red Hot" tonight and won both games easily.  We had snacks and drinks to go with our complete humiliation.  It was a good time, however, even though our butts had been thoroughly kicked.
After Phil and Joyce left, Sharon logged on to the Internet and checked mail and read her newspaper.  It only took her about 15 minutes to do it but I was sawing logs already by the time she got to bed.  I am hoping that tomorrow will deliver my phone tools so I can get the new phone up and running.  I was hoping I would get them before Phil and Joyce left, but they'll be out of here tomorrow morning before I can check the mail.  I'll just have to do it myself.

It is moving day today.  The Bachs and us will be going our separate ways.  We will be going next door to Western Horizons and they will be going to Thousand Trails which is a bit of a trip down the road.  We may get together for a Breakfast or a lunch, but beyond that we may have seen each other for the last time this year.
We got settled in and took a walk through the park for patio sales.  We walked through about half the park before my leg started aching.  There didn't seem to be anything we couldn't live without anyway.
We gave Len and Rose a call to check on a ride to Taco Wednesday.  Len volunteered to pick us up so we would ride with them.  When they picked us up we drove back over to Catalina to check the mail for the cable for the phone.  It wasn't there, and we headed off to the VFW.  We would be meeting Jim and Jackie over there and they were waiting when we drove into the parking lot.  Jim and Jackie are always early so we expected them to be there already.  Last week Jim ordered a Burrito that looked pretty good so I wanted try it this week.  So Len, Jim and I had Burritos this week and they were pretty good.  Of course we also had a few pitchers of beer to slosh them down.  Sharon wasn't feeling good after eating so we didn't try to make it a marathon today.
When we got home I thought everybody was going swimming but Sharon didn't feel good so she opted out.  When I got back over to the pool Jim and Jackie were there, but Len and Rose never did show up.  I'll have to find out what happened to them sometime tomorrow. I only stayed at the pool for about an hour cause I didn't have a gate pass in the car to get back in the campground.  Actually what I needed was the gate code written on the back.  By the time I got back, the gate was still open, so I didn't have to use the gate code.
Sharon was still out on the couch when I walked in.  She apparently didn't wake up until I started rattling around.  She said she still wasn't feeling too good.  I settled in with the manual for the new phone to keep me warm.  Jeopardy and Seinfeld were on TV in the background while I read the manual.  It didn't seem too complicated even though there are more features than our last phone.
We sat and watched TV for the night even though a couple of shows were re-runs.  I think they're getting ready for March Madness and if so, we'll get a string of re-runs over the next week or so.
We both hung in there until 11 tonight.  I was watching TV and Sharon was in bed with her puzzles.  I wanted to stay up just long enough to see Keifer Sutherland on the Craig Ferguson show.  I did and shortly after that I decided that enough was enough for the day.

We got a leisurely start this morning but we did have things to do today.  Most importantly we had to check our mail at Catalina Spa for our USB Phone cord that was supposed to be coming in the mail.  It made no sense to get moving early since the mail usually wasn't sorted until about noon.  We also had to pick up some groceries in town today and we took off about 11 thinking that we might get lucky with the mail.  We weren't, and it wasn't there, so we headed toward town to shop for food.  We only had to pick up a couple of things and Sharon had a couple of coupons from Stater Brothers for McDonald's for Big Macs.  Needless to say we stopped at the Drive Thru window and picked up a couple of sandwiches on the way back home.  We decided that we'd have another try at the mail at Catalina on the way back to Desert Pools, and we did.  No luck but the mail was sorted this time, so it hadn't arrived yet.  This was not a big surprise as the Postal System seems to know when I'm waiting for something, and they never deliver it.  A person could get paranoid after a while.
After lunch we headed over to Catalina for the mini-golf tournament.  Today we didn't have much luck.  We finished up third..................out of three teams playing.  We did however win a free muffin and coffee from the store.  Ater golf we went to the pool o get our suits on and take a swim.  This was one of the nicest days we've had out here and the pool was warmer than it was yesterday.  This winter they've had a hard time keeping the water warm. It seems like every time it warms up we have a windy day that takes it back down again.  Jim and Jackie were waiting for us in the pool and the Browns and Parents were back from their gambling trip to Primm, Nevada to Stateline Casino.
When we got back we grilled up a couple of big burgers for supper.  Sharon also made some homemade Chili-Cheese Fries.  It was all very good indeed.  We had also decided earlier that we would go to the $1 theater tonight to see the Oscar winning "Crash," so we left the campground about 6:45 for the 7:20 showing.  As it turned out we got there just before 7:05.  The theater was more crowded for the movie "Walk the Line" which we had seen a couple of weeks ago, than for this year's "Best Picture."  We found the movie quite different in that it was about racial dis-harmony, and was many stories linked together by racism.  Sharon and I agreed it was a good movie for different reasons.
We got back home too late to watch any significant programs on TV but March Madness was starting.  We don't usually watch the games unless Michigan State is involved in the game.  Sharon used to work for the father of the coach in his shoe shop.  The team usually gets into one of the last games and sometimes into the Final Four.  He's even won the tournament a couple of times.  But of course that won't be for a couple of weeks yet.
Sharon did her usual computer work before we went to bed.  We managed to make it to the feathers by 11.

Sharon finally got her directions and distances together this morning for our trip home.  Len and Rose were planning to go home with us so I took the information and headed over to Len's.  I also had to stop at Roy and Maryann's to drop off a letter from the Kraft Nabisco Golf Tournament.  When I told Len where I was going he decided to take a ride with me.  I basically had to check mail and see if my accessories were here yet for the phone.  I also wanted to stop at Jim and Jackie's to let them know that we'd be over to their place around 4 to go up for Corned Beef and Cabbage tonight.
The mail wasn't there yet or at lest didn't seem to be, so we drove up to Jim and Jackie's to let them know about our plans for the night.  We were there for ab out 15 minutes or so and by the time we got back to the office the mail truck was there delivering.  So we had to make another stop at the office and my stuff still wasn't there.........apparently.  It wasn't sorted yet so there was no way of knowing whether the quick skim through the box of mail turned it up or not.  We left anyway to come back to Desert Pools and home, figuratively speaking.
We went over to the pool about 2 but we knew we had to be out of there early so that we were ready, and at the Palestini's by four.  We picked up Len and Rose at 3:55 and headed to Catalina.  At Jim and Jackie's we had a cocktail before we walked up to the clubhouse to eat.  The long was exceptionally long today and they seemed to have run out of food as several people just up and left before they paid their money.  I kept an eye out for the "steal a meal" couple and they showed up right on schedule.  But tonight was not all you can eat and thy each walked away with a plate so we assumed that they paid full price tonight.  But once a thief, always a thief.  We came back to the Palestini's and conversated for awhile before we finally came bac k home.  Rose was busy telling her stories about Leonard and keeping us all in stitches.  We were home by about 8 and settled in for TV of sorts.
The wind was blowing tonight and playing hell with the satellite dish.  So the dialogue was skipping with great regularity.  Sharon logged on to her usual web sites tonight and checked mail.  We got a couple of nasty "jokes" from a friend at home.  I say nasty because they were just "Bush Hating" cartoons that made no sense.  Oh well that's what you can expect from radical Democrats.  They don't even know they're radical is what's a shame.  I went to bed satisfied that I had given them a taste of their own medicine.

We had planned on catching some Garage Sales this morning and we called Jim and Jackie and they decided not to go because Jim was going to watch NASCAR today.  We picked up Len and rose and headed out for Caliente Springs for their Craft Sale.  They usually have one open to the public every month but for the most part, it's always the same old stuff.  It didn't take me long to check it out and go out into the car and give my mother her weekly call.  She seems to be doing better every day.
From Caliente Springs we headed down to the Sky Valley Fire Department for their Open House.  It was windy again today so some of the swap meet was indoors, but we got our Hot Dogs for lunch and then headed back for a Garage Sale at Rainbow Spa Rv Park.  We couldn't find a thing we couldn't live without so it didn't take us long there either.  On the way home I decided to go to Catalina and check for my mail which was supposed to contain the items for the new phone.  I found a box there with the accessories and not the Data Cable.  It was sent Priority Mail and was supposed to take 3-4 days.  As usual, it took 6 days to arrive.  3-4 days my ass.  The day that the postal system is as efficient as UPS or Federal Express will be the day before the world comes to an end.  I don't want to be around for that.
After some discussion we decided to go to the pool today.  The wind was still whistling and we knew the pool would be cooler but we wondered how much.  The answer was clearly evident as soon as I hit the water.  It was too damn cool for me.  I headed immediately for the Hot Tub.  The water in the Hot Tub is always a temperature that you can count on.  Sharon and I were the only fools to be at the pool today, aside from a couple of other nut cases that we didn't recognize.
We came home in plenty of time for Sharon to make it to church tonight.  She came home at her usual time and we started cooking supper.  She had marinated a huge London Broil last night and tonight we would grill it.  We put that baby on the grill and basically forgot about it.  It was so thick that it was going to take a while to cook it.  By the time it was "done" it took about 40 minutes and it was a nice shade of medium rare.  I usually like my meat a little darker but Sharon likes it just the way it was cooked.  We also had a baked potato and Garlic Bread with a little Vino to finish it off.  It was all quite tasty.
We settled in for TV tonight even though the wind made the dialog skip for whatever we were watching.  It really didn't matter cause there was nothing on because of March Madness Basketball.  We watched a movie with Jackie Chan called Shanghai Noon.  And after that we both took our turns on the computer just surfing around.  We had nothing left undone by 10 o'clock so we just folded up our tents and headed for bed.

Sunday, March 19, 2006

The wind was still with us this morning, and of course, the dish was still skipping dialogue on every program.  It didn't really matter cause there was nothing on TV today except the History Channel.  Although along with that I kept busy most of the day.
Sharon took off on her walk with heavy clothes and gloves on today.  She did work up some heat on her trek though.  She came back huffing and puffing.
I also had the Newsletter to keep me busy so I certainly wasn't bored.  By noon we checked on the NASCAR Race and it  had been rained out.  Today it was in Atlanta, Georgia and they were in the process of showing last year's race.  This was not turning out to be a television day.
In the afternoon I finished programming the new phone and was hoping that tomorrow would bring my data cable from Ebay.  We're all set to go now and all we have to do is activate it.
By swimming time this afternoon the wind was still giving us fits so we decided that trying to swim today would be a waste of time.  I called Phil this afternoon and their pool is ice cold with a broken "part" that they're overnighting from "God only knows where."  That's what they always say to keep the members from moaning and groaning about the cold pool.
The History Channel can actually keep a person entertained for an entire day.  I especially enjoyed the programs called Mega Tools.  It was about the inventions for building large buildings and bridges throughout the world.
Sharon had decided that for supper tonight we were going to have grilled burgers and chili/cheese fries.  With the wind still howling it was tough to keep the grill cooking but I managed to get the burgers done.  She was inside concocting the Chili/cheese fries and the whole thing turned out absolutely delicious.  By the time we got our dishes done it was now time to settle in for some serious TV.  The wind had died down somewhat but it was still noticeably gusty.  But then the first couple of show were re-runs because of March Madness and the only original show we saw was Grey's Anatomy.
Sharon got on-line tonight an tried to order her medications.  The website for Medco wasn't having any of that.  It wouldn't accept a bunch of information that She inserted into the page.  Apparently it knew more about her than she did.  Yeah right!  So she decided to call them instead.  Apparently she got the order corrected.  All in all this had been a pretty sorry day even though it didn't turn out that way.  We made the best of a bad situation and came out the winners in the end.  At least all of our family phone calls turned out fine, so we did accomplish something for the day. We just waited for 10 o'clock to arrive and when It finally did  off we went.
